FORTHFAST HOVERCRAFT
During 2006, Stagecoach had a 'trial run' using a hovercraft to ferry back and forth (no pun intended) between Kirkcaldy and Portobello in Edinburgh. By all accounts, it proved to be a great success and it is hoped to start a permanent service in the not too distant future.
Below is a thumbnail gallery of images taken of this service. Details of the hovercraft can be found below the images. (Thanks to Colin Topping for the hovercraft details)
Buses were stationed at Kirkcaldy and Portobello for the purpose of providing temporary waiting areas for passengers.
